Senior Software Engineer for regional transit agency mainly responsible for the customization and maintenance of the agency's public website.

• Managed the migration of the existing Drupal 7 site to Drupal 8, including a full visual and architectural re-design, switching to a single responsive site that supports both desktop and mobile browsers.
• Managed an Agile team of designers, developers, and QA engineers, partnered with the site product owners to determine specifications of features, resolve bugs, and manage the software maintenance lifecycle of the site.
• Customized the Drupal CMS software that runs the website:
  • Updated dynamic trip planner, schedules, and real time vehicle arrival pages.
  • Designed and implemented an interface and search pages so that the site could search and display documents stored in a private Sharepoint document library, supporting the custom Sharepoint document workflow in that library.

Lead Programmer

Our group develops and maintains several dynamic web sites, targeted to both desktop and mobile browsers. The sites' user base includes several million members. As Lead Programmer, I was responsible for determining architectural direction, maintaining technical standards through code review amd programmer mentoring, and developing and maintaining all development support infrastructure, such as code repositories, test frameworks, and rollout processes.

Projects

• Chat Server: Implemented a real-time text chat server using node.js, socket.io, and RabbitMQ. I worked on implementing both the front-end and back-end code, in javascript.

• Billing System: Implemented and maintained the billing sub-system for our main product. Features include configurable real-time selection of pricing, processor gateways, and merchant accounts for transactions. The system supports (currently) 10 separate processor gateways. This system is written in PHP with MySQL for the database.

• Affiliate Site: Managed the development and maintenance of an affiliate facing site used to communicate statistics and payment details with affiliates who send traffic to our products. This system is written in PHP + Zend Framework using MySQL for the database.

• Revision Control Systems:

  • Implemented the initial usage of subversion within the company for our main product's code. This includes specifying and (in some cases installing and maintaining) the tools mantis and trac for use in our code-review and rollout processes.
  • Implemented the usage of git for several pilot projects. This included the usage of Atlassian's JIRA issue tracker and their Bitbucket code reposiotry. We are in the middle of converting our older subversion based repositories to use git as well.
